Summary: KeepVerbatim keeps a private library of your AI chats on your own device. SLNT Labs runs no servers for it and collects nothing: no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and your data is never sold. Chat content leaves your browser only when you choose to save a chat to your own Notion workspace.

What the extension reads

KeepVerbatim runs only on these AI chat sites:

• ChatGPT (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com)
• Claude (claude.ai)
• Gemini (gemini.google.com)
• Perplexity (perplexity.ai, www.perplexity.ai)
• Grok (grok.com)
• DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com)

Autosave. When you open a chat on one of these sites, KeepVerbatim reads that conversation and keeps a copy in your local library. It does not change or add anything to the chat page.

Reading the full conversation. Where needed, KeepVerbatim requests the same conversation data the page itself loads, from that same site (same-origin), using your existing signed-in session. Any session credential used for this stays in memory for that request only; it is never stored by KeepVerbatim or sent anywhere other than the site it came from.

Catch-up. From an AI tab you already have open, you can ask KeepVerbatim to catch up: it makes same-origin requests on that site, with your existing session, to re-save recent chats that are already in your library. Catch-up only re-saves chats already present in your library; it does not discover or add new chats. Its requests are rate-limited.

Images. When images in a chat can be captured, KeepVerbatim stores them in your local library so they appear in the viewer and in exports. To do this it may fetch the image from where the chat shows it — the AI site itself (same-origin) or these listed image hosts only: images.openai.com, *.oaiusercontent.com, lh3.googleusercontent.com, assets.grok.com — or copy the image already rendered on the page. Images stay on your device unless you explicitly save that chat to Notion.

What is stored, and where

Everything is stored only on your device:

• IndexedDB (extension storage): your chat library — conversation text and locally captured images.
• chrome.storage.local: your settings; your Notion integration token and default Notion page or database (if you use Notion); a map from chat ID to the Notion page it was saved to, so a re-save updates the same page; and, when paid plans are enabled, your licence status.

You can delete chats from your library at any time. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of this data from your browser. Clearing browser data for the extension also removes all local data.

Where your data goes

• Your device (default). The library never leaves your browser on its own.
• Notion (optional, only when you save). If you add your own Notion integration token, a chat's content (and its captured images) is sent to Notion via api.notion.com only when you save that chat, into the page or database you choose. Notion's privacy policy covers data stored in Notion.
• Polar (only when paid plans are enabled). KeepVerbatim may check your licence key / licence status with our payment provider, Polar. Only licence information is sent — never conversation content. Paid plans are not live in version 0.7.7; this policy will be updated before they are. When paid plans are enabled, this policy will be updated before any licence checks occur. SLNT Labs has no backend server for KeepVerbatim. No chat content, token or usage data is sent to SLNT Labs or to any other third party.

Analytics, tracking, ads

None. No analytics, telemetry, tracking cookies, advertising, or selling or sharing of data.

Permissions

• storage — keep your settings, Notion token, chat→page map and licence status on your device.
• activeTab, scripting — read the open conversation to keep it in your library or when you save it, and run the read-only archive and catch-up scripts on the AI sites listed below.
• Host access to AI sites — https://chatgpt.com/*, https://chat.openai.com/*, https://claude.ai/*, https://gemini.google.com/*, https://www.perplexity.ai/*, https://perplexity.ai/*, https://grok.com/*, https://chat.deepseek.com/*: read the conversations you open (same-origin, with your existing session, for full history and catch-up).
• Host access to image hosts — https://images.openai.com/*, https://*.oaiusercontent.com/*, https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/*, https://assets.grok.com/*: fetch images shown in your chats so they can be stored locally and/or uploaded when you save to Notion.
• Host access to https://api.notion.com/* — create or update your Notion page when you save.

Version 0.7.7 requests no other permissions. Access to Polar (api.polar.sh) is not included and will be added only when paid plans are enabled.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

KeepVerbatim's use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the archiving, search, export and saving features you use. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not transferred except as described above, and not used to determine creditworthiness.

Children

KeepVerbatim is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone.

Changes

Changes to this policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
